Fuel out day and lights out day

As some of you may know, we recently had a lights out day where people were urged to turn lights out at eight and leave them off for an hour. There is also a fuel out for tommorrow in which truckers urged to park for one day. Now as a trucker's wife, I really don't see how this is gonna help anything. These fuel companies know that if we don't buy fuel one day then we have to buy fuel the next day. All this does is shorten a trucker's payday. I think the only answer to this is alternative fuels, drilling on our own turf, and living a little different. The way to hurt these companies is to actually conserve our energy use. If everyone tried a little harder to save on fuel, daily, now that would be a big long term effect. It amazes me how much we complain on fuel cost, but then make several trips a day out of our home. Now don't get me wrong I loved our SUV, but the point is I could not afford the gas. If you can afford the gas for one, then go for it. But if you can't afford it then stay home. Line dry some clothes, turn lights off, ect. In any scenrio, we are going to have to learn to live with a little less. We can live with less now in hopes of turning the tides with these companies, or we can live with a little less later when we can't afford to drive to work or in our case can't afford to work all together. We are going to have to change this with God's help because obviouvly the government isn't.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for warm spring weather. The birds are starting to come to the bird feeder again and I have heard frogs in the evenings. I love spring. I am also thankful that we have our garden started. We have planted lettuce and onions and have plenty of seeds started. I am also thankful for the bowl of homemade soup and cornbread my momma brought me. YUM YUM The kids love being out in the warm sun. They hate winter and the cold. Gee, I wonder where they get it from :) I so look forward to working in the garden, catching waterdogs in the creek, and roasting wieners late at night. What is your spring plans?

Spring cleaning?

What is it about spring that makes us gals want to redo every room in our house? For me it is being cooped up all winter. Today I have the bedroom windows open and letting some fresh air in. I love fresh air!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have decluttered and rearranged some things. I have also set out some old black and white photos. I hope to fix our bed. We currently just have our mattress in the floor. I need a bed rail for a bed with a headboard and footboard. I also need it free or near free as I am BROKE! I would love to paint and get new curtains and some new fabric, but gotta make do with what I got or can make. It is looking decent though, which is an improvement. I will be doing my bathroom maybe this evening. I hate to clean my shower and tub. UGH. I just really need to get this stuff done. I feel like I am nesting for some reason. So much to do, so little time. Gotta go finish up.

Our hearts

Lately, I have been reading somethings online that I find really troubling. Their seem to be some people who really like to tear others down. They are christian mommas, who love God and loves to tell why they are right and everyone else is wrong and in sin. Well, I don't know about you, but I am not perfect. I thought no one was perfect except Christ. I feel like it is a shame on me, my house isn't all neat and tidy all the time, my kids whine, I didn't do enough homeschooling, I didn't cook a healthy enough meal, I didn't spend 4 hours reading my bible, I didn't know the pagan history of Easter, or end time rapture. (some of you may know where I am going with this). Again, I AM NOT PERFECT AND NEITHER ARE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am wrong sometimes, you are wrong sometimes. If we were always right why would we need to pray and read the bible. We would already know everything. Well, here is the facts on me. I love Jesus. I was saved when I was 12. I have sinned alot since then. I try not to sin now. I read my bible. I don't go to church enough. I love my husband and kids. I truly with all my heart try to do right. But I am human and I make mistakes. My house always has toys everywhere. But hey, the dishes are done... I don't always get all my school work with the kids done. But we homeschool year round. I sometimes feed them....fish sticks or Mcdonalds. But they will survive. I don't read my bible for four hours. But I do read it. I didn't know about Pagan Easter history. But things only have the value that we place on it. If I want to have dinner and hide colored eggs with my kids, I don't believe I would be damned to hell. But maybe I am wrong, I am not perfect. What I do know is, I am a child of God. Not equal and all knowing as God, but a child of God. As any child, I make mistakes. And my Father corrects me and guides me along my path. I am sure he may get angry with me but he loves me anyway. So lets not tear each other down. We make it so easy for satan by the way we act with one another. Who cares if my house is perfect, if my kids are perfect, if I am perfect? It is only my heart and soul that is going to be with Jesus, not my perfect life. And while I do believe we should teach each other, I also believe there is a difference between teaching and putting down. You can't teach someone who is not yet willing to learn. God will put it on their heart and he will put into yours to teach them. Sorry, this is so long. But just go out their and be happy that you are doing all you can to be the best you in Christ that you can be. Have a blessed day.

Have a great holiday. May it be filled with family, fun, and most importantly faith. Remember the true reason we celebrate Resurrection Sunday. Jesus Christ offered himself up as the sacrificial lamb for our sins. So that we may have everlasting life with our Savior. Make sure to tell your children the story of the resurrection and tell them how precious our savior is. May God bless you and yours.

Busy, busy

I am super busy today. I have a ton of housework to do in preparation of Easter. We may have some people staying with us this weekend. Of course, things can't go smoothly as my kitchen sink is stopped up!!???!!!!!! Oh well, I guess I will try my hand at being a plummer. ROFL. So what are you all up to for the holidays? What is your family's tradition? Before I go get super busy, I want to tell you about a conversation I had with my children yesterday. To 3yo dd, what are you eating? Bubbie made me a sandwich (Bubbie is what she calls my 5yo ds) Puzzled I ask, what kind of sandwich? A peanut butter, pepper, and bologna sandwich!!!!!!!!!!!! She was not kidding, and worse she devoured the entire thing. She gave rave reviews, but I just dont see how it could taste good.

March=work

It has been fairly warm this week and after a looooonnnnggg winter, I am giddy with spring fever. I have scrubbed my back porch and a few rugs we have and I also cleaned our grill. I picked up a few items in the back yard, realized our pool had a hole in it, and so does our water box:( But anyway, there is a whole list of things I need to do both inside and out before gardening goes into full swing. My husbands garage needs cleaned, we need to take some things to the landfill, and finish the fish pond. Inside I need to shampoo carpets, clean closets, wash windows, and walls. I would love to paint my walls, but money is short and I need to just wait on it. One day, I will be able to paint them and have my hardwood floors. ONE-DAY!!! My dh got a call about his deer mount; it's ready. So when he is able to go pick it up, I'll try to get pics up. He is so proud of the thing!!!!!!!!! Well, I need to go start supper. C-YA

Toys and bad attitudes

Have you ever just had your fill with the toys? They are in every room in the house. Especially my den. It is car and doll central. I don't mind them getting it out, but here is the problem. Major attitude on picking it up. I have been harping about it for 30 minutes. They work a minute then quit. I guess they will not be going out today then, huh. I so need to get on top of this. I need help. I need major organization. We have too much stuff. Mainly, it is toys, business papers, and homeschool stuff. I wished we had money to buy some shelving for the homeschool stuff and file cabinets for the business papers. The toys need to just go. I think this may be a project for us soon. I know life would be much easier if this stuff was controlled.

Store and errands

Just got back from the store. Spent more money than I would have liked. I could scream at how much the price of living is going up. I also tanked up the car, all of $54 dollars worth. No we don't have a suv, just a sedan. I remember when $20 would fill up a cars tank. I still spend under the USDA thrifty program, but when you need to cut more, it is kinda like there is no where to go to. It is so sad because if you want to feed your family healthy foods you will pay considerable more for it. I guess if you buy cheapo food, then the big corporation can just take your money when you have a major illness from all the cheapo foods you had to buy. I am sorry, I just get ticked. Anyway, dh went with us. We picked him up from work. He wasn't actually getting to work anyway. Which means we are in for one crappy payday. Okay, I will quit being so crabby. This is my menu for the week:
Tonight-Spaghetti with garlic bread
Wednesday-Left over Spaghetti with garlic bread.
Thursday-Burgers and tator wedges
Friday-Chicken Dumplings
Saturday-Leftover Chicken Dumplings or grill cheese
Sunday-Homemade Pizza
Monday-Fish sticks and mac and cheese

Oh, I am totally happy that I managed to get ground beef on sale today. Whoo HOO for me.

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My son lost his first tooth!!!!!!!!!!!!! As any good country boy, he lost his tooth while we were hiking in the mountains. It had been about 60 here so we went for a quick hike in the mountains behind our home. As we were looking at various leaves and animal tracks, my son says look mom and holds out his hand. At first I though it was a peeble and so I said "What?" I didn't know what was so special about it. Then he starts jumping and says my tooth, my tooth. OK, now I get it. His tooth finally fell out. DH is gonna be so sad he wasn't here for this. He has been begging ds to let him pull it. I better go, we still have some school work to finish. C-YA

Pizza is on its way!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is 8:00, I am tired and hungry. We have been working on dh's truck all day. I can't hardly move much less fix dinner. No worries, in-laws are on the way with pizza. FIL helped all day and he told MIL about how hard we worked, so they thought they would feed us. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please pray about dh's job. He really needs to find something different but it is so hard to do around here. Please, also, check out the HSLDA link on my sidebar and visit them to sign the petition related to the homeschooling case in California. Government should not over turn our parental rights. As long as our children are well taken care of and educated, it should not be any of the states business. Everyone likes government help and government programs until it starts to interfer with their lives. Government should help with infrastructure and such, but they should in no way tell people how to run their lives. People should be allowed to just live and provide for themselves. As long as I am not bothering anyone, they should butt out!!!!!!!!! Well, I am gonna go, don't want to get on my soap box with pizza on the way.LOL

Truck still not fixed

After working with dh for the last couple of days, the truck is still not running. It seems no one can figure out what is wrong with it. It has now been a week since dh worked and it could be at least a couple more days until he gets lined back out. I have no idea how we are going to pay our bills. I guess we will have to just wait and see what happens. He does have a couple of promises of a better job. It is just gonna be awhile.
